How Leila Became Rex's Biggest Fan

Leila still remembers the day her younger brother, Doug, came running into the house.

"Leila! There's a dinosaur outside cooking burgers!" he shouted.

Leila rolled her eyes.

"Oh, sure there is," she laughed. "Nice try, Doug!"

Doug was always playing jokes on his big sister, so she figured this was just another one.

But since she wasn't busy, she decided to peek out the back door anyway.

And there he was.

A real dinosaur!

Standing by the grill.

Flipping burgers.

Wearing a silly Hawaiian shirt.

"That's the craziest thing I've ever seen!" Leila whispered.

At first she wasn't sure what to think.

What if Rex was scary?

Just then, Doug told one of his favorite dinosaur riddles.

Rex laughed so hard he almost dropped the spatula!

Leila couldn't help but laugh too.

"Maybe he's not so scary after all," she thought.

Soon Rex waved and invited her over to help build the perfect cheeseburger.

From that day on, Leila looked forward to every time Rex visited.

She especially loved when Rex showed up wearing one of his goofy hats.

Leila has always loved animals.

Every Saturday morning she rides horses at a nearby stable. She knows that the biggest animals are often the gentlest, so it didn't take long before she realized Rex was just one more big, friendly animal with a huge heart.

Leila loves helping her family in the garden, trying new burger recipes with her mom, practicing yoga, and cheering on her friends.

Her two best friends are Mia and Piper, whom she met in gymnastics. There's picture of them below. That's Mia on the left and Piper on the right.

On weekends they love going to the movies together—especially the slightly scary ones, if their moms say it's okay!

Sometimes they sing their favorite songs together and laugh until their stomachs hurt.

Leila has told Mia and Piper all about Rex.

Now she can't wait for them to meet him.

She has a feeling they're going to become Rex fans too.
